A long the East coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, a few kilometers south of Cancun and in the heart of the Mexican Caribbean, is the Riviera Maya, a land with an abundance of flora and fauna, long

The Riviera Maya is made up of a large number of individual destinations, each with its unique
attraction and charm: Playa Paraiso, Playa del Secreto, Punta Maroma, Punta
Bete, Xcalacoco, Playa del Carmen, Xcaret, Calica, Paamul, Puerto Aventuras, Xpu-há,
Kantenah, Akumal, Chemuyil, Xcacel, Xel-há, Tulum, Cobá, Boca Paila and Punta Allen.
Not too long ago, the entire eastern flank of the Yucatan Peninsula was virgin beach, long stretches of white sand overlooked by nothing more ambitious than a coconut palm. Today progress has touched the
Riviera Maya (or tourist corridor) as the 100 miles from Cancun to Tulum is now being called.
Thankfully, development has been of an enlightened sort, and if sections of that coast have been altered by the addition of services, its spectacular, inimitable beauty has suffered little.
